Solutions – Vertical Market Solutions – Healthcare

Healthcare providers face many challenges including patient overflow, shortage of medical professionals, rising costs and specialists that are not available locally. Providers must find a solution enabling patients to interact with doctors without constraints to location or time. Pinnaca’s knowledge and expertise of telecommunication in this market ensures healthcare providers reduce costs, increase accessibility, and ease the concern of patient overload or availability of medical professionals.

Nexus Residential Treatment Centers

A Pinnaca visual communications system is being used to connect staff at four Nexus specialized treatment facilities and to help families stay connected with their children while they are in treatment. Nexus operates residential treatment sites in Minnesota and Illinois for children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral disorders, credits the new system with improved business efficiency and client care. The new video conferencing system has dramatically increased Nexus’ efficiencies and cost savings, connecting staff without the added cost of travel and time lost. But what is most significant is connecting families. Youth come to the sites from around the nation, and the Pinnaca video conferencing capability allows parents and referral agents to track a youth’s progress while in treatment.

Northwestern Health Sciences University

Pinnaca’s integrated distance learning program for Northwestern Health Sciences University aims to enhance instructional teaching capabilities from remote locations. NWHSU has been an international leader in natural and integrative health care education, patient care and research. The university wanted to create a theater of instruction with peer institutions, sharing faculty and guest lecturers. The university uses sophisticated visual communications systems to connect consultants, faculty and other specialists from around the country – and the world – to the classroom.

University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital

Families of hospitalized children are not always able to be at their sides. Some children remain in the hospital for long periods of time and some parents live many miles away, including out of the country. Pinnaca’s video communications system at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital lessens emotional suffering caused by that separation. The system visually connects a parent admitted to University of Minnesota Medical Center to a child admitted to University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital when both are patients. In addition, the new video conferencing systems allow the doctors and nursing staff caring for the patient to visually communicate with the parents who are at home, work, or traveling nationally or internationally.
